Summer is at our doorstep and we’re so excited for the sunny weather.

Arizona is famous for its hot summers, but locals know that when the temperatures start to rise, the fun really begins. Some of Scottsdale’s best attractions are made to accentuate the summer heat by providing plenty of opportunities to cool off. We’re so accustomed to the heat that we came up with some really great ways to stay cool and enjoy the outdoors during the summer.

Be sure to add these events to your Scottsdale summer wishlist to help you and your guests stay cool and have fun:

Visit the Trails in the Morning

If you’re looking for something to do before the sun is high in the sky, get out onto one of Scottsdale’s best trails in the morning.

Going out early in the morning means the weather will be much cooler than it is in the afternoon. Scottsdale’s natural spaces shine in the summer seasons when the desert plants are all at their prime. Wonderful options that offer trails of all levels are McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Pinnacle Peak Park, and Cave Creek Regional Park.

Enjoy a relaxing stroll, invigorating workout, or pack a snack for a picnic-style brunch. If you get in and out by 12:30 PM, you won’t have to worry about the temperatures rising too much.

Even though you won’t be there when it’s sunniest, be sure to pack sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and plenty of water.

Take a Shady Rest With Drinks and a Meal Between Golf Rounds

If you live in Desert Mountain, you’re probably a golf enthusiast. Our community’s best-in-class golf amenities include options that make it easy to stay cool and comfortable when the weather starts getting hotter.

Our favorite way to play golf in the summer is by breaking up the rounds with a drink and meal at any of Desert Mountain Club’s restaurants. Members of the club can choose from their favorite of the seven on-site restaurants to relax between games. Whether you want to sit inside for drinks or enjoy an open-air lunch seated outside, the Desert Mountain Club is ready to accommodate you.

Relax at the Spa

What better way to relax in the summertime than at one of Scottsdale’s top luxury spas?

Spending the day getting pampered at the spa is probably the best way to stay cool when Arizona’s climate starts heating up. Our community offers a thriving spa culture for locals looking to find their wellness all year round. In the summer, it’s nice to enjoy a relaxing massage or a cooling beauty treatment to soothe sun-kissed skin.

Many of our local spas include indoor-outdoor areas, so you can stay cool while still enjoying the spectacular weather. A few options to check out are Well & Being Spa at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, the VH Spa at Hotel Valley Ho, and The Spa at ADERO Scottsdale.

Whatever you choose to do, keep a self-care day at the spa on your list of things to do this summer.

Visit the Jim Flick Golf Performance Center

Locals who want to improve their golf game this summer should head to the Jim Flick Golf Performance Center. In our opinion, this hub for golf is one of the best attractions that Scottsdale has to offer.

The state-of-the-art center is equipped with the latest technology to help golfers improve their game and have fun while doing it. The Jim Flick Center has indoor spaces which are where visitors can work with the amenities the site has to offer. Players out on the green have access to personal cabanas, keeping you nice and shady while you’re working on your swing.

Don’t think that this spot is just for professionals. The Jim Flick Golf Performance Center is a great destination for golfers who want to improve their skills, no matter their level of playing experience. The staff members are all experts at helping people hone their skills to reduce the chances of injury and soreness.

Plan to Watch the Sunset at a Local Hotspot

After the sun has been beaming all day long, the sunset is a welcomed transition. We probably don’t need to tell you that Arizona sunsets are famous for being beautiful. The spanning horizons and natural outlooks highlight the colorful sky. When you want to beat the heat and enjoy the warm weather, get together with your loved ones and catch the sunset at your favorite community outlook.

Enjoy the best that summer in Scottsdale has to offer with these awesome local pastimes. For more Arizona lifestyle tips, stay tuned to the POWER+ Blog!
